Why use a continuously running host?

A virtual private server can host a desktop terminal independently of a personal computer. It may reduce interruptions caused by local power or internet problems. Compatible managed virtual hosting is another model, with its own migration rules and limitations.

02

Latency is one part of execution

A shorter network path may reduce communication delay, but broker processing and liquidity also determine fills. Choose infrastructure based on the actual terminal workload and account location, then observe it. A low latency number does not establish a trading advantage.

03

Security and maintenance

Use strong unique credentials, controlled remote access, supported software, and a deliberate update process. Keep account credentials out of public logs and shared configuration files. Review the permissions of any EA before enabling optional external access.

Plan for restarts and platform updates. Confirm the correct account, chart, symbols, and inputs after maintenance. Avoid running duplicate active instances unless the program explicitly coordinates them; duplicate orders can create unexpected exposure.

04

Practice recovery

On a demo account, test a restart and a loss of connectivity while trades are open. Identify which stops remain at the broker and which management functions depend on the terminal. Keep a documented alert and intervention process. Infrastructure improves availability; it cannot correct a flawed strategy.

Common questions

Does a VPS make an EA safe to leave unattended?+

No. Hosting does not eliminate software bugs, market losses, broker issues, or maintenance requirements. Monitoring and a recovery plan remain necessary.

Is this personalized trading advice?+

No. These guides explain technology and evaluation concepts. Your circumstances, broker terms, and risk tolerance require independent consideration.
